July Maintenance Tips
JULY HOME MAINTENANCE TIPS
July is here which means that summer is in full swing! That means that there are a few things you need to be taking in to consideration when it comes to home maintenance.
Here are a few tips and to-dos for your summer season.
-Inspect roofing for missing, loose, or damaged shingles and leaks.
We just came through the "rainy / stormy season" which means that you likely have a couple shingles missing or even some small leaks you may not even know about. Get up there and check on your roof to ensure that you don't have an issue on your hands that you're unaware of.
Change the air-conditioner filter.
-Doing this could extend the life of your HVAC unit, keep your energy cost down (which means more money in your pocket!!), and also helps you maintain healthy air quality in your home.
Refinish the deck.
-this enhances the look of your deck and also increases the life of the wood. The stains used today are known to extend the life of the wood that is used to build your deck. It also will protect the boards on your deck from warping and rotting.
Have a professional inspect and pump the septic tank.
-Got a septic tank? You should probably be aware that the tank need to be pumped regularly. What you may not take in to consideration is that it also needs to be inspected regularly.
What you may not see if that you could have leaks, roots in the lines, etc in your tank causing the waste to leak out in to your yard. NO BUENO!
If you own your own home you should DEFINITELY take care of these small items each season. Waiting until something is wrong could cost you MAJORLY! If you do preventative maintenance along the way you will likely catch things before they become a big deal.
